Jamie and Harry Redknapp

Battersea Summer Scheme organises a number of events in the holidays for children in Battersea. One of the most exciting events is the Big Play Out, which encourages children to stay active and keeps them engaged during the summer holidays. As part of the Big Play Out, football royalties Jamie and Harry Redknapp were at Battersea Park to run a tactics and training session for local children. I spoke to them about the day, and also asked them about the Euros.

Rocky Clark - England Rugby International

The Elite Rugby 7s returned to the UK with an incredible event at Plough Lane on May 25th. The event showcased international and elite teams competing in both men's and women's 7s categories, and was the only opportunity to witness top-tier 7s rugby in the UK in 2024. The event was hosted by Rocky Clark, who has previously represented England at 4 different Rugby World Cup tournaments.

 

Ahead of the event, I spoke to Rocky about the event and what to look forward to.

Danny Care - Harlequins & England Rugby

Stadium Golf Tour, a ground-breaking initiative that transforms iconic sporting stadiums across the UK into unique golfing experiences, hosted a special media preview night at Twickenham Stadium on 7 June 2023. The preview event was attended by rugby stars Danny Care and Ugo Monye. I had the privilege to interview Danny Care and talk about the event, as well as the Harlequins' results, next season preparations, and the Rugby World Cup.

Louis Fell - Hampton & Richmond FC

It’s been a busy few weeks at the Beveree Stadium, the home of Hampton & Richmond FC. Whilst preparations for the new season are fully underway, the team have also been screening all of England’s EURO games at the Beveree Fanzone.

I spoke to Club Secretary Louis Fell about the EURO match screenings, as well as the team's preparations and their new signings ahead of the new season.

Rocket Padel

Battersea Power Station has once again become the home of sports this summer, with the Battersea Games taking place from 1st July until 8th September 2024. As part of the programme, Rocket Padel are back for a second year with their pop-up court in Power Station Park. But the padel enthusiasts out there will be pleased to find out that Rocket Padel will also be opening Central London’s first riverside indoor padel courts at Battersea Power Station later this summer. Ahead of the padel club opening, I spoke to Rocket Padel founder Sebastian Gordon and club manager Jay Peterson about what locals can expect.

The open day was also an opportunity for members of the local community to find out more about the volunteering opportunities at the club. I interviewed Marketing & Communications manager Louis Fell about the open day and how one can get involved with the club’s volunteering opportunities.

Georgina Brayshaw (Olympic Gold Medalist - Quadruple Sculls)

On Wednesday 31 July 2024, Lauren Henry, Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson and Georgina Brayshaw struck gold in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls. It is the first time Team GB have won this race in the Olympics, which makes the achievement even more historic. I had the privilege to talk to Olympic gold medalist Georgina Brayshaw the day after the win.

Adam Freeman-Pask - Fulham Reach Boat Club

Fulham Reach Boat Club is a charity which aims to give access to rowing to a cross-section of our community, and create a world where there is Rowing for All.

Recently, the Fulham Reach Boat Club won the Community Club of the Year Award, and were involved in a variety of exciting initiatives across the community. I spoke to the club's CEO and former Olympian Adam Freeman-Pask about the amazing work of the club.

Live Radio Shows

After being the Sports Deputy Editor at Riverside Radio last year, I was promoted to Sports Editor at the beginning of 2024.

My role includes:

- Managing the sports team

- Planning and producing a weekly 2-hour sports show

- Presenting and co-presenting

- Scheduling, planning and conducting interviews

- Editing the weekly shows into podcast episodes

- Building relationships with local sports teams
